Sundays are a day for reflection, rest, fun and a look ahead.
We were certainly eagerly awaiting this Sunday and the arrival of ten new Birchrockers. The Cubs II session campers joined us today! They plugged right into the program as other campers were enjoying some relaxing free time and showers around the lodge area. The Shower Barons went with a world cup theme as they shuttled the camp through the shower room.
At our delicious Sunday dinner we took some time to honor Caleb D. He was inducted into the Birch Rock Decade Club as this is his 10th summer at camp. Kind words were shared as some of the staff reflected on the last ten years with Caleb at camp. Congratulations to Caleb for his commitment to the community!
After the meal our eccentric Game Master (counselor Jack Duggan) challenged the Green Army and the Black Squad to square off in a rousing afternoon of War Games!!! Campus became an open battlefield in this capture the flag style game with multiple hidden flags to find and capture. A hard fought game of might and strategy had the Black side prevail in the end. During the game Theo T. had the opportunity to swim the length of the lake and completed his Seal. Congrats to Theo!
To end the evening the community gathered at the Birch Rock for Tree Talk. The topic this week was the importance of good communication. Also discussed was how a lack of communication or miscommunication can impact you and your community. Some pretty funny anecdotes of miscommunication were shared during the open discussion. As always a good time was had by all.
