A cartoonist is showing some younger campers how to draw cartoons.

What an amazing Tuesday at Birch Rock Camp! We awoke to a delicious breakfast of blueberry muffins, fruit, yogurt, grits and breakfast sandwiches. All fueled up and ready to go, we began our day.

At periods 1 and 2 the Otters and Wolves had the pleasure of working with a professional cartoonist during their art periods. The cartoonists name was Steve and he was INCREDIBLE! He taught us all how to turn any letter of the alphabet into a cartoon animal – so cool! Lots of learning and fun was had and we can’t wait to see him again when he returns next week – thank you Steve!

After a delicious lunch of enchiladas, rice, chili, cornbread and salad – we all celebrated Reid M and Abe C’s birthdays. The climax of the celebration was definitely the piñata. Reid M and all of Hilton A each took turns whacking the dinosaur piñata. After about 2 minutes of big swings, Robben N finally took the dino down! Happy birthday Reid and Abe!

It’s only the 2nd day of activities and we’re already off to a hot start – Max M and Lenny C earned their Junior Canoeing badges just two days into the 2nd session! Up on the baseball field, Kevin C turned the first triple play of the summer at the 4th period baseball game – Line drive catch at 3rd, tagged up the runner at third, and threw to 2nd – be sure to tune into Sports Center’s Top 10 tomorrow morning to watch the highlight!

Our day ended with an extremely rousing and competitive evening activity of Orb! We were all super thankful the rain held off in the afternoon so we could play on the hill tonight. It was an action packed, fun filled day at camp and we can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
