Junior Counselor (approximately age 17 or rising high school senior)
- Work with staff and be a co-counselor with an assigned mentor
- Live in a cabin
- Receive updated training and certification – w/ speciality certification in desired activities
- Teach two different activities under Activity Supervisor (Field, Water, Arts)
- Participate in training and staff meetings
- Allowance to leave campus on off time via permission from administration
- Subject to employment work agreement of BRC policies and expectations
- You will be a distinguished member of the BRC staff

Your duties will include:
- PRIMARY FOCUS: CABIN & ACTIVITIES
- To execute and promote the daily activity and group living in keeping with the camp mission statement
- Act as role model and mentor for all BRC campers
- Work with guidance and support of your immediate supervisor
- Execute and advocate the highest standards of safety
- Be responsible for your cabin’s inspection, behavior and group participation in all camp community activities
- Perform general duties including: evening patrol, cabin supervision, meal time manners, general swim coverage, trip chaperoning and other duties assigned by the Head Counselor
- Responsible for the development, promotion and facilitation of respective activity(ies)
- Facilitate and evaluate the development of your assigned campers
- Uphold all rules and regulations found in the Staff Manual
- Reports to the Head Counselor
This position puts you on the front lines of Birch Rock. You will find yourself with campers most of the day, everyday. Pace yourself and make sure that you get the necessary rest to get yourself through the entire summer. You are the big brothers for these kids and will be role modeling for them at all times. Balancing between friendships and enforcing camp policies is very important. The better you balance this, the more respect you will earn from the campers.
