At Birch Rock, a boys wilderness camp in Maine, we prepare every boy for their adventures in the wild or on the waters through skills they learn by signing up for activities like campcraft, nature, canoeing, biking, etc. All of our activities are structured to help our campers prepare themselves for the outdoors. The boys learn to hone the skills they have learned on campus out in the wild under the watchful eye of experienced Trip Leaders. They return to camp more confident and comfortable in the great outdoors, and more confident and comfortable in their own skin as well.
The youngest boys get their first taste of camping by spending a night cooking dinner and sleeping out under the stars, all within five miles of camp. For pre-teens, there are 3 day/2 night hiking and camping adventures, often on parts of the Appalachian Trail and always in Maine or New Hampshire. And the older boys head out for a 4 day/3 night camping expedition, often in the Rangely Lakes region of Maine. All Birch Rock trips are lead by the camp’s Trip Leaders, experienced outdoorsmen who know the trails well. Maine Inland Fish and Game trip leader certifications and Wilderness First Aid certifications are carried by all of our trip leaders. For our canoe trips, our leaders are Canoe Safety certified as well.
