This morning at approximately 3:43am Rowan G dove bravely into the chilly waters to swim the entire circumference of McWain Pond, the largest pond in Maine (probably). Daringly, he pushed through heavy fog and a light drizzle, unphased by the inclement weather. Just as Rowan was pushing his way through the reeds on the far side of the lake, tragedy struck. A lone clap of thunder rumbled across the sky. Rowan, ever the enthusiast for safety, immediately jumped out of the water and patiently waited the required 30 minutes. Once the danger had passed he worked double time to cruise all the way back around to the other side of the dock, completing his whale! It was electric, the cheers were ringing all the way to Waz and back.

Back at camp badges were flying! Henry R, Oracle B, and Brandon D all earned their Junior Campcraft badges while Max T earned not only his Junior Maine Woodsman but also his Musician 1!

Speaking of the Maine Woodsmen, we also had a trip to Camp O-At-Ka where the gentlemen practiced for the Junior Maine Guide tests. They worked alongside actual Guide testers and met with campers from other summer camps. The boys represented BRC well and even got a compliment for their exemplary knowledge of Maine trees.

After Second Rest it was officially SATURDAY NIGHT! Campers and counselors donned their funky and funny shirts and headed to the grove for some delicious burgers and dogs. The theme for tonight’s campfire was Halloween! It was spooky, it was scary, we saw two separate counselors cover themselves in ketchup. A good time was truly had by all.
