Our day kicked off with a hearty breakfast of pancakes and bacon, plus the superior hot cereal of choice: Cream of Wheat. Don’t argue, those who know, know. Campers fueled up, syruped up, and launched into the day like rockets made of carbs.

And then… it happened.

Luis Galvez emerged from his cabin looking… different. Specifically, blonde. Like, peak Britney Spears blonde. Naturally, he blamed the Midnight Phantom, the elusive trickster spirit rumored to haunt camp after lights out.

In other news, the Bears, our oldest age group, set off on their epic four day journey across the Rangeley Lakes. Canoes were loaded, spirits were high, and one camper was overheard saying, “I packed nothing but granola bars and raw confidence.” Classic.

Lunchtime brought a blessed tradition: Taco Tuesday. There were soft tacos, hard tacos, taco salads, and once camper who insisted on eating nothing but lettuce, sorry, lechuga. The mango salsa was spicy. The cottage cheese was chunky. The mood? Arriba.

In a badge update, Spencer A. earned his Bowman up at Archery while over at baseball a total of six campers earned their Jr. Baseball badges!

The day ended on a perfect note: just as the sun dipped below the Oxford Hills, the entire camp ran across the field to say goodnight to our wonderful neighbors, the Plates. After a rousing rendition of Sunset Splendor we raced back across as quickly as possible. It was, of course, the blonde streak himself, Luis Galvez that crossed the soccer field first.
