History In The Making- July 16th Blog

Today marks a big day in the legacy of Birch Rock Camp. A long standing tradition of our lovely camp surrounds the completion of difficult long distance swims. We take pride in these events, and it is looked at as a right of honor for many of us. Today, George K. was able to break the record for our long distance swim titled “The Seal”. George completed the swim in an impressive time of 45:47, beating the previous record by over 3 minutes. Congratulations George!
Today, like yesterday was a scorcher, so various water activities were conducted today. From water baseball to the otters raiding the swimming dock for all of its fun, camp spent their time cooling off. Campers snacked on ice cream and drank plenty of water, as well as Gatorade. Hatcher B cooled off extra by hopping in the lake and swam his loon! Not to mention, Eli M swam an amazing duck! Up on the field, Tom C rallied back and forth to receive his junior tennis badge, and Jax E earned his Bowman! Our gentlemen are so impressive!
To close off the day, Cabin Night filled the hearts of our campers with joy, laughter and glizzys. Campers enjoyed hot dogs, smores and great memories. From running around camp getting soaked by sprinklers, to hopping in the lake, everyone had a blast. Simply put, there is nothing better than Cabin Night.
And a good time was had by all!
