First Pizza Friday!- June 26th Blog
Posted by: Logan Landry
Another Friday in the books at Birch Rock, and it was a good one.
Breakfast this morning was grits, corned beef hash, and eggs, which was exactly the kind of meal we needed before a busy day. Camp got moving pretty quickly after that. Down at Campcraft, we were working on bow drill fires, which mostly meant a lot of effort, a lot of patience, and praying to the fire gods. Bow drills are not easy, so credit the guys down at Joe’s.
The biggest moment of the day was Jax finishing his Duck by swimming all the way across Lake McWain. That is a huge accomplishment, and he should be proud. Great job, Jax.
Lunch was Pizza Friday, which is always a camp favorite. The kitchen outdid themselves, and judging by how fast the pizza disappeared, everyone agreed. During lunch, the Presidential Trip got back and gave their trip report in the Lodge. It was great to hear from them and have that crew back in camp.
This afternoon Musc and John took Eagles Nest on a tour of the Poland Spring water museum and facility. They learned a lot about the bottling process and had a blast!
Dinner was fried fish, zucchini and green beans, and tater tots, and it really hit the spot. After dinner, we played Orb for evening activity. Upper Camp and Lower Camp split up and spent the evening hurling hacky sacks at each other, which is about as ridiculous and fun as it sounds. There was a lot of yelling, a lot of dodging, and definitely a few questionable throws.
Today was a great start to a weekend with much more to come.
