Today was a great day at Birch Rock, and also a very windy one. We enjoyed some delicious French toast and bacon, while white caps formed on the lake below us. First period was nonetheless a blast, as Ziggy S., Sam F., Arlo R., Max T., Noah O., and James L. set up a chipmunk feeding contraption at Nature, and at the same time learned much about deciduous and coniferous tree identification. Simultaneously, archery was rocking, so much so that Arlo R. earned his Yeoman badge and Carter C. earned his Bowman.

Second period swimming focused on Technique Thursday, with specific work on the breaststroke pull and front crawl rotary breathing within groups. The wind didn’t stop us from laps, and sailing was zipping around practicing for the regatta.

We celebrated the traditional Chicken Patty Thursday, and a special 7th birthday for Reid M, with a chocolate ice cream cake, which was a huge hit with everyone. The afternoon wind welcomed even crazier sailing, and Jr. canoeing badges flying out to multiple campers. Ben B. got his Senior Art, and Oracle B. got his Senior pickleball badge. At the same time, Finn S. and Oliver M. balled out and got their Jr. Basketball badges. A busy day at camp!

At Free Time, the lower campers competed in a paper airplane competition with Connor C. coming out on top. The Jolly Green Giant came out for dinner, reminding everyone to eat their vegetables. The day ended in a rousing game of dodgeball, and a great day was had by all!
