Javier’s Big Day- July 25th Blog
Posted by: Birch Rock Camp
When Javier M. woke on this dewy morning, it was like any other amazing day at Birch Rock. Little did he know that today would be the greatest day of his life. Today… was his day. Javier’s first task was swimming a brilliant duck. Now this was a feat in itself, but Javier was out for more… After slaying the McWain monster, Javier swam his Loon right after to assert his dominance! So we’re done now right? No. Javier then sprinted up the hill to attend a high level volleyball tournament – crushing his opponents, earning him his Sr. volleyball and Super-camper! Viva la españa!
Not only is Javier a superstar, but all our other campers are as well. Multiple badges went out today to the cheers and support of fellow campers and staff. T.P.Z had been working hard all summer in the music room, and today he finally earned his Sr. music badge – rock on! Down on the waterfront, Luke T. and Ewan D. paddled hard today to earn their Jr. kayaking badges! Loons were calling in support, swimming alongside them. Sebastian V. also soaked in that waterfront love by swimming his duck! Quack quack quack!
As the day continued, the rain turned into sunshine and the camp’s energy surged in momentum. Chicken patties (a camp favorite), helped in this swing along with Ryck B.’s arrival. The day was perfect: a slight breeze and a gentle glow of the sun. However, all days must come to an end.
The day came to a close, not before Rob showed off some amazing karate skills. Camp soared with cheers and “ooo’s” as Rob broke through flaming three inch steel plates covered in glass; while backflipping over a snake pit of course. Campers indulged in games of Blitz, Speedball and a beautiful sunset.
So let’s hit the hay my hardies, for beds where we belong!
