Opening Day – June 25th Blog
Posted by: Birch Rock Camp
Today was opening day here at Birch Rock Camp. A glorious day when all the waiting and anticipation finally ends and we can begin the fun and games. Throughout the day campers arrived full of excitement and curiosity. They were greeted by their cabin counselors who would show them to their new home for the next few weeks (or months). The campers have time to settle into their cabins to get their areas ready and then they head up the hill to the field to play classic BRC name games. Games such as Blob Tag were enjoyed by both the staff and the campers who had already arrived.
After playing games up on the field for a while, the bell was rung and we all headed down to the waterfront for the first official full camp general swim. After running around, having fun and getting sweaty the cool water was a refreshing change of pace. After getting dry, we gathered around the Disco Deck and sang some classic camp songs before heading back up the hill for a long, rejuvenating rest period.
The food today was delicious as usual. For breakfast we had Janice’s Blueberry Coffee Cake, and mini Quiche bites. For lunch we had cold cut sandwiches. The go to move is to add hot honey and Carolina Tangy Gold sauce. It really brings the sandwich up a level. For dinner we had crispy chicken tenders, coleslaw and pickles. A meal that never goes out of style. The dessert was a gooey brownie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
It was a beautiful day on the shores of McWain Pond and we are all so excited to kick off this season here at Birch Rock Camp!
