Today was not only an epic day for activities, it was the first Pizza Friday of the summer. Pizza Friday is a weekly lunch tradition that has been around for… well, a very long time. The campers and staff love Pizza Friday so much that some of them even make songs about it.

Speaking of activities, during a 3rd period archery session, we witnessed some seriously jaw-dropping skills. Picture this: arrows soaring through the air and hitting the targets like they were guided by magic. Now imagine our campers taking their aim to the next level by shooting arrows at apples. Yes, you read that right—apples. They traded the bullseye for a granny smith and eventually two campers nailed the apples on the targets, achieving William Tell status expertise.

Along with that we launched today off with the first two long distance swims of the year. Teddy B. and Jorge billed up their courage and left the waterfront docks to swim their ducks. The duck is the first of our four long distance swims involving a swim across the lake to the other side from Birch Rock.

Our tennis enthusiast Robin N. showed off their swift moves and incredible swings on the court to get a Junior badge. The lacrosse field was buzzing with electrifying energy as Chase B. and Clark C. displayed their mad skills, scoring badges as well. Even a windsurfing badge was given away to Teddy M. … while at a different activity.

With every apple hit, every duck swam and badge earned, the energy in camp began to build up. All that energy ended up on the hill after dinner for an epic game of Capture The Flag that was so intense and down to the wire that it went 10 minutes past the scheduled time of evening activity (don’t worry, it ended in a tie).

All in all it was another beautiful day at the rock… hopefully the Midnight Phantom won’t come back tonight to mess it all up.
