two canoes on the lake on a beautiful sunny day

Happy Pizza Friday! The Birch Rockers had to endure a frigid night’s sleep, but we bundled up and awoke strong and prepared to attack this day even stronger than the last. And we did just that!

Badges were flying around during the day today, as many first-year Birch Rockers earned their first badges. A very exciting feat! Julian M. was on fire today, earning his junior soccer, junior volleyball, and yeoman (archery) badges. Jasper R., Ramón P., Robben N., and Alex Y. all earned their junior soccer badges, as well.

Otto P., Luke B., and Ben S. earned their junior craftsmen. Graham F. earned his junior art badge. Gauge D. and Wyatt K. earned their junior canoeing badges.

Today, as mentioned prior, we had pizza for lunch, but possibly the star of the show today was the delicious chicken marsala we had for dinner. We concluded our day with an epic game of capture the flag. The shirts team started off to a blistering 3-0 start, but the skins had an incredible comeback of winning 3 rounds in a row to tie the final score at 3-3.

Tomorrow we have the first campfire of the year. Half of the camp will act in skits they created, with the only requirement being that they must include the phrase: “if I can fight a bear, I can bake a cake”. No, that is not a reference to a movie or something, it is a totally random phrase. We are all very excited.
