We did it. We beat the heat. But at what cost? Today, the camp woke up to an out-of-the-ordinary cool breeze, and long sleeves were very necessary at breakfast. Thankfully, the kitchen cooked up some delicious French toast and bacon to warm us up and get us ready for the day.

Badges have started to fly out in every activity, and this morning Julian D. earned his Yeoman badge, Alex Y. got his Jr. Mt. Biking badge, and Mateo R. got his Jr. Tennis badge, just to name a few. Even when badges weren’t being earned, boatloads of fun were still being had everywhere on the hill. Down at swimming, treading Thursday got the campers even more ready for some long-distance swims (stay tuned for lots of swim achievements coming up). Up on the field, the escape from the heat created the perfect environment for conditioning and general athletic prowess.

Lunch introduced campers to the newest of the consistent-day-of-the-week meals, chicken patty Thursday. According to some conversations at lunch tables all across the grove, it may be superior to Taco Tuesday and Saturday Night Burgers and Fogs. However, it’s gonna be hard to beat Pizza Friday, which we have to look forward to tomorrow.

After an afternoon filled with more badges and more fun, and a delicious dinner of tamale pie, Manuel announced that we would be playing Orb! (orb orb Orb Orb ORb ORb ORB). The hacky sacks were flying, alliances were made, and chants were created all over the backdrop of a beautiful Maine sunset. After a beautiful rendition of hit the hay, some upper camp cabins made a trek down to the waterfront for some sunset fishing and hanging out, before bundling up for the cold night ahead, and the guarantee of another amazing day tomorrow.
