What another amazing day at Birch Rock Camp! Eddie was in the kitchen early this morning preparing some delicious hashbrowns, sausage and eggs to get our day going. We are always so thankful for the delicious food we get to enjoy here at camp. At Birch Rock, being a gentleman, focusing on our manners and etiquette is a big part of what we do. This morning, counselor Luis G presented a poem he created on the basics of tableware. Using other fellow counselors, they acted the following poem.

Once upon a time in the land of biroca, a young boy named chuck went to his first meal.

When he arrived to his seat

Prepared to eat, eat, eat…

He was confused, kerfuffled even, he seemed beat.

For before him there were ten sets of beautiful silverware

But which was his, he was not aware

There was an empty spot where he could be

But which items were his, we would see

The fork on the napkin to the left was his

And the knife and spoon belonged to him, NOT TIM

Above the knife your cup does live

And hydrating water it shall give

And so the meal will commence

And the napkin on his lap it shall rest

And when ol’ chuck wanted more

A V the fork and knife shall form

And when the fork and knife colluded

The serving of the food has concluded.

The beautiful weather continued into the afternoon and more badges were earned

Thanks for the entertaining reminder on the importance of table etiquette Luis!

In the afternoon, the beautiful weather continued and we had a few badges go out at various activities. Up on the baseball diamond Hector C was getting on base and making plays all afternoon, he earned his junior baseball badge. At the archery range one of our Leadership Campers Javi M was locked in and shooting straight and he earned his Archer badge. Future Real Madrid star Mateo R earned his junior soccer badge up on the soccer field today too. The wolves canoeing trip also returned in the afternoon, all reports from the trip were great. They had beautiful weather for the three days they were on Umbagog Lake and even had several wildlife sightings.

After dinner, PJ took seven campers down to the lake to fish during the sunset. The water was very active and just about everybody caught at least one fish, Brooks B had the record for the night with 4 fish caught! It was yet another action packed fun filled day at Camp, and we can’t wait to do it again tomorrow!
