Today was an action-packed day as First Session rolls towards its conclusion. The most notable thing being the return of Da Bears! The large contingent of campers training for JMG completed a successful trip on Umbagog Lake and the rest of the bears returned from a trip to the Rangley Lakes, where they had to fight against the wind for a bulk of their trek but still accomplished everything they set out to. A good time was had by all.

Back at camp, it was another scorcher that was broken up by an abrupt rainstorm. The wind gusts were so huge that they actually lifted the awning in front of the field shed up off the ground, over the field shed, and into our neighbors’ tall grass beyond the basketball courts, before being rescued by a trio of BRC first responders.

Musc announced to camp that today would be Fort Day! Cabins were instructed to use every resource at their disposal: mattresses, bed frames, blankets, and more, to build the most epic fort possible in their cabin for inspection. This is always a fun day, which allows the campers to get creative and let their wild side loose.

Fourth period and second general swim had to be in the lodge, unfortunately, but the weather was perfect for lunch, where we ate chicken sandwiches and got to watch water be poured on Javier S. and counselor Nick. They played a 2v2 soccer game the night before against Mateo R. and counselor Aleks, and Javier and Nick came out on the losing side of a friendly bet: the losers need to have a pitcher of water poured on them at lunch.

The tail end of first session means a lot of badges as campers make their final pushes. In fact, today was the final day of activities. Brooks B. and Landon S. earned their jr campcraft. Rhodey V. swam his Loon. He also earned his jr. basketball badge, along with Caden G, Tom C, and Angel C. Marshall B got his jr canoeing. Otto P earned his sr baseball. Tom C is earned jr windsurfing. And last but certainly not least, Liam B. swam his Seal.

After dinner, Manuel gave an interesting evening activity announcement, stating “tonight for evening activity… I don’t know what we’re doing”. He instructed us to meet at the flagpole once the bell rang. When we did so, we all filed down to the waterfront and had general swim for evening activity! We love swimming! When we finished, we went to bed with a fascinatingly bright yellowish sky, and excitement for what tomorrow might bring.
