What a half-jolly, half-festive, entirely awesome day at Birch Rock! We awoke to a beautiful day, with the sun shining over the placid lake for the first time in days. Lower campers reported a visit from half-Santa, with some halved pieces of candy as a wake-up surprise on their trunks. The holiday energy was aglow, and we devoured ham and cheese omelets with the good spicy potatoes everyone loves.

The morning was filled with smiles and cheer, and the Upper Camp tennis period was fierce with full matches being played. Down at campcraft, water was being boiled to 100 degrees Celsius to celebrate our centennial summer. At woodshop and art, campers (half-elves) were churning out half-ornaments for our lodge half-Christmas tree.

At lunch, we enjoyed sloppy joes and some amazing half-Christmas sugar cookie sandwiches for dessert. Swimming in the afternoon was a blast, as the Wolves age group focused on treading, and the Otters learned some elementary backstroke. Jax E. earned his Senior Kayaking Badge, and Hunter S. earned his Senior Art Badge. Nice work, guys! Logan W. and Kie K. crushed it out of the park at baseball and got their Junior Baseball badges.

It got a bit rainy before dinner, but no weather could dampen our half-Christmas spirit! The lodge was decorated with lights and a half-tree, and we feasted on a traditional holiday meal of roast beef, potatoes, and carrots. We finished it off with pumpkin pie, in between reports from Rainer Deer, head of reindeer relations, and our half-elves, Jingle and Jangle. To finish off the evening, we got cozy in our cabins and played some board games like Sorry, Monopoly, and checkers. A great day was had by all!
