A Good Day To Have A Good Day – July 8th blog
Posted by: Birch Rock Camp

Ding ding ding ding ding!
The metallic thrum of the bell tolls through the land of biroca. The dew from the rain plasters flagpole hill as the sun rises over the trees towards the hill… it’s a good day to have a good day.
Rearing off in the morning we are presented with a collection of different JORTS (Jean Shorts) by the counselors and their unique style. After a breakfast of bacon and French toast, the kids dash to their cabins to make their beds and get going for the day. As we roll into the morning something out of People magazine rolls through camp. It’s the paparockzzi! Cameras are flashing as campers are interviewed about everything from allegations of their involvement in the Magic card trading ring to their opinions on the new changes to the waterfront. Spencer C. States “I am not involved in the rigging of the waitering teams and have no idea what you’re talking about.”
As we pass through the rest of the morning a motorboat rips through that water at general swim carrying nine other than Gabe E. Gave us returning in triumph on the vessel after swimming his Seal! This making it the first seal of the summer other campers wonder what big swim will come next. So far, it’s been a good day to have a good day.
Through the first rest only one thing was on our minds: Taco Tuesday. The lunch line filled as beef and beans flung out from the waiters hands and onto a choice of soft or hard shell tacos. Nearing the end of the meal, all of a sudden, music came on. You start to freeze
As horror looks you right between the eyes
You’re paralyzed
‘Cause this is thriller, thriller night!”
The thriller begins to play as Charlie and Tim come running out in costume to lead us into a dance of the thriller. Pulling out all of the moves they lead into the announcement of this week’s Campfire… Halloween. Hmmmm, Halloween. I’m sure this won’t have any involvement with any plans the staff have in the future…
As we head back into the routine of camp activities are running again. The kids are swimming, the field is full of fun and those in the woods work hard towards new knowledge. Jesus R braved the range and got his Archer badge, the second highest archery badge at camp. As thunder rolled in over the hills in the distance and the snack bell rings we all headed up for a wonderful sweet treat of popsicles. Also, there was a wedding. Congratulations Eliana and Riley!
Due to the thunder we joined up for an all camp free time and an extended rest period to play games in the cabin, we weren’t gonna let some thunder ruing our good day. As the day flew by and we finished unwinding we headed into a delicious dinner, a big game of dodgeball and one of the loudest goodnight songs we’ve heard this year.
So yea, it was a good day to have a good day.
