The Mystery Inspector – July 10th blog
Posted by: Birch Rock Camp

The campers are all lined up at the waterfront. Hearts are racing and muscles are tensed in anticipation. They are waiting for a bell that signals a mad sprint to the field. It will not be easy, for lying in wait are the oldest campers, ready to hunt them down… but we’ll get to that later!
The day started off a little misty, but thankfully, the rain held off while the campers enjoyed a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, and home fries. While the weather was a bit cooler than it had been recently, it allowed the campers to run around on the field and put in some work at campcraft and JMW without sweating too much. It even allowed Brayden Z and Leo L to earn their junior lacrosse badges in only one period!
At lunch, after some delectable chicken sandwiches, camp was introduced to the mystery inspector. This is an anonymous green creature whose only purpose is to inspect; beds, cabins, tucked-in shorts, and more are all subject to inspection.
Despite some light showers, spirits were high in the afternoon. Down at swimming was treading Thursday, and while the burn was real, everyone came out of it feeling better, faster, and stronger. Down the road at music, Marshall B earned his junior badge. Congrats!
John served up some scrumptious meatloaf for dinner, and then Manuel announced the game that everyone has been waiting for: THE HUNT!! As I hinted at the beginning of this blog, the hunt is a game where most of the camp has to run from the bottom of the hill all the way up to a circle on the fields, but the senior campers are trying to pull their tails and get them out. While the campers were frazzled by the senior campers arriving in full war paint with their own entrance music, they still ran valiantly to escape them. After multiple rounds, both hunters and hunted alike were exhausted, and it was time to get some rest for another exciting day tomorrow!
