What a boo-tiful Friday here on the shores of Lake McWain!

The day kicked off with clear skies and high spirits as campers dove into activities across camp. A huge quack-quack hooray to Jaden W, who swam his Duck today! That’s a big step in our swim program and a testament to Jaden’s determination and courage in the water. Way to go Jaden! Up on the field, Tom C and Aiden R knocked it out of the park by earning their Junior Baseball Badges. These two showed hustle, heart, and teamwork all week long!

Morning inspection had a festive twist with a spooky Halloween theme—cabins were decked out in cobwebs, jack-o’-lanterns, and even a few fake skeletons. Campers fully embraced the fun, blending creativity and camp spirit to kick the day off with some spooky ghoulish clean up.

Of course, no Friday is complete without Pizza Friday, and the grove was buzzing as everyone chowed down on their favorite slices to fuel up for an unforgettable night.

While Upper Camp was getting groovy at the whimsical Arcadia garden party, our Lower Camp crew was preparing for the fright of a lifetime. As the dinner bell rang, a sinister mood began to creep in from all around. Ghouls and ghosts emerged from their slumber—and so did Camp Director Mike Mattson, transformed into a towering Frankenstein with a costume that stole the show.

After stuffing our bellies with John’s blood-red meat sauce and pasta, campers braced themselves for what came next: a haunted hayride that was sure to put us all on the edge of our seats. Screams, laughs, and wide-eyed wonder followed as the ride delivered chills, thrills, and plenty of spooky surprises.

Meanwhile, at Camp Arcadia, our Upper Campers represented Birch Rock with pride and polish. Dancing under the summer stars, they mixed, mingled, and showed off their finest Birch Rock manners. Reports from across the lake say our boys were polite, thoughtful, and had an incredible time celebrating with their new friends.

As the stars rose over the hill and the final ghost vanished into the night, it was clear that Friday at Birch Rock had a little bit of everything—accomplishments, adventure, laughter, and just the right amount of fright.

Until tomorrow!
