Merry Half-Christmas Eve, everybody!!- June 24th Blog
Posted by: Logan Landry
As I’m sure you all know, it’s that time of year again where four-pointed snowflakes are falling, half of the roast beast is being carved, and kids are getting excited for presents under the Half-Christmas tree. Before we get to the festivities, however, we had an amazing day here at Birch Rock!!
After a delicious breakfast of French toast and bacon, a windy morning of activities began. Sailboats were flipping left and right, and canoes were paddled upwind with Herculean strength, but everybody made it back safe and sound. Somehow, despite the gale force winds trying their best to throw off his arrows, Alex B managed to earn his bowman badge in only his second day shooting a bow! Lenny N also earned his Jr. Soccer badge!
The good vibes continued into the afternoon after an incredible chicken patty sandwich lunch. Gnar was shred, creativity was on full display, and the younger kids continued to improve and flourish at instructional swim. Logan W and Ziggy S both destroyed councilor Luis G in a game of tennis to earn their junior badges, and Will B painted the most amazing color wheel you’ve ever seen to earn his junior art badge.
The Half-Christmas spirit really got into full swing during dinner, where a Half-Christmas tree was planted in the grove (with only branches on one side, of course). At the end of the meal, half-elves Crinkle and Twinkle narrated the story of the night before Half-Christmas, full of tales of Santa and his four reindeer.
With jolly thoughts in their mind, the campers rallied for a rousing game of capture the flag, and then headed to sleep dreaming of half-presents under the half-tree tomorrow.
