The Battle of Heat – July 2nd Blog
Posted by: Logan Landry
A beast of greater power woke this morning, immense rays dulled the sky to a soft blue hue. The warmth was rough and firm like a winter coat. Our community rose to the challenge.
“GOOODDDDD MORNINGGGGG… BIRCH ROCK CAMP!”
It was a warm one on McWain today. Yet the battle went our way. Today was filled with an eager urge to be enveloped by the lake. Campers enjoyed their time getting cooled by everything water, whether that was sprinklers, ice-baths or some awesome vibes down at instructional swim.
Campers enjoyed love-filled meals from our amazing kitchen staff. We love a good chicken sandwich with some fresh greens on the side. Magic cards, smiles and mysterious prizes. The 100th is in full swing, everyone and everything is firing.
Several guys got some awesome badges today. Spencer C. and Lukas J. glided themselves into getting Junior Windsurfing badges. Alex Y. surfed high, and received his Senior. Luke S. climbed the ranks to grab his Junior Pickleball badge, and Will B. danced into his Junior Music.
Dinner was a hearty and grand meal. Our admin and hardworking staff touched on what it means to be part of history, as gentlemen in our community one century later. From manners to exploring one’s skills and traits in a positive environment, we are honored to have such amazing campers and staff alike to share an incredible moment at our lovely camp.
Considering today was a battle with our elements, we enjoyed community soccer moments, and the collective tiredness that grew as the night fell.
The loons sing softly.
