Power’s out, but it does not matter – July 5th blog
Posted by: Birch Rock Camp
Happy Friday! We had a hot and humid day today, but a phenomenal day, nonetheless. We actually lost power twice today, once around lunchtime and once at nighttime. But we’re Birch Rockers; we’re resourceful.
We had badges flying around today. Aidan R and Brooks B earned their Senior Canoeing badges. Aidan R also earned his Junior Kayaking badge. James W earned his Junior Canoeing. Martin D earned his Bread and Butter badge (junior pickleball badge) and Lukas J earned his Half Sour badge (senior pickleball badge). Lukas J also earned his Senior Soccer badge today, alongside Ben M.
At lunch, Jeff announced that he would host an essay competition, where campers would have to write a one page-long argumentative essay determining which upper camp and lower camp cabins would be the capital of their respective areas, if we had such a thing. Ethan N already submitted his strong argument for Buzzard’s Roost in upper camp and Zig House in lower camp. We will see if anyone wants to counter his argument.
For lunch, we had the always popular pizza. For dinner, we had meatloaf. We finished off the day with a great game of Quorum, and the temperature dropped a little on the field while we played, which was a welcomed change. Half of the cabins are prepping their skits for tomorrow’s Wild West themed dinner. It will be a great show, for sure! We also approach the Cubs I campers’ final day at camp. We are very sad to see them go; they have been rockstars. But, we are happy to have spent a great two weeks with them and hope to see them again next year.
